Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a student at Glasgow’s School of Art and designed the current building. It is now an international educational establishment were design, art and architecture are studied. A view of the external excellence of the building is recommended as well as a trip inside on doors open day which is a weekend in September annually. A wander around the museum is recommended if you want to indulge in the history of Glasgow’s transportation or if you want to get a close up of a formula one racing car. The Mitchell Library is one of the largest public reference libraries in Europe. It was first opened in 1877 as a result of a generous bequest by a wealthy tobacco manufacturer. It has been revamped as part of a £2.75 million project and now has an impressive multimedia centre beside its café. The Mitchell Theatre 6 Granville Street, Charing Cross, Glasgow G3 7DR. The Mitchell Theatre is situated behind the Mitchell Library and hosts a variety of events. The Mitchell Theatre hosts music, arts and drama events including child friendly entertainments. The Willow Tea Rooms 217 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow G2 3EX. The Willow Tea Rooms was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904. The architectural design, the interior and the splendid service attract visitors constantly through the doors.
